Catalyst X Value is an investment group based in New York. We pool committed capital from a closed circle of investors and hold a limited number of private businesses on behalf of families and funds who would rather own a few things well than own a great many of them.
Who We Are
What it means to be a catalyst for value.
By the time an owner reaches us, their business usually works. What it lacks is the thing that sets a change in motion.
Our role is to be the catalyst for that change and then to fund it properly. The order matters. Capital applied to a business that has not identified its own constraint tends to buy a larger version of the same problem.
Our investors are private families, single-family offices, a small number of institutional funds and a handful of former operators who have sold businesses of their own. They subscribe capital knowing we would sooner return it than deploy it badly.
Ownership Horizon
Our oldest holdings have been with us since the firm was formed. We have never run a sale process on a schedule.
